Public Engagement: Junior High Designation for Northeast Sherwood Park

Expand Image

As Sherwood Park grows, adjustments are sometimes made to attendance areas to ensure Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) makes the most effective use of its facilities in order to offer students the best possible education. At the EIPS Board meeting on May 25, administration recommended the Division consult with school families about a possible change that would have all regular program Grade 6 students residing in Summerwood, Summerwood North and Lakeland Village attend Clover Bar Junior High for grades 7 to 9.

To that end, we are asking you to please join us for the first of two In-Person Engagement Sessions:
     Date: 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022
Location: Lakeland Ridge, gymnasium (childcare will be provided)
Address: 101 Crimson Drive, Sherwood Park

When you arrive, you’ll receive information on the possible change to your designated junior high and be invited to share ideas, suggestions and feedback through a facilitated process. This session is designed so you can drop in anytime and the facilitated process will take about 30 minutes. Consultation team members from WMC (Western Management Consultants), the group contracted to undertake the engagement, will guide participants through the exercise and record the results.

A second session in September will be an opportunity to see how your feedback has informed the recommendation being put forward regarding junior high for students residing in Lakeland Village, Summerwood and Summerwood North. Additional details will be provided closer to the date.
