Welcome back parents and students to another exciting and promising school year. I hope everyone had a restful summer full of quality time with friends and family.
Welcome new staff/Trustee
Welcome Trustee Annette Hubick and our new librarian Sonya Mercer to the Mills Haven Family.
The first School Council and AGM meeting will be held September 10 at 6:00 pm. All Mills Haven Elementary School parents are welcome.
Mills Haven will be holding a Meet the Staff Night September 12 starting at 6:00pm. All parents are invited to visit their child’s classroom and meet the teacher.
There are several ways parents can stay informed. Mills Haven News will continue to broadcast morning announcements on YouTube, Raven News will be emailed to parents, and teachers will communicate with their parents via newsletters or their Teacher pages which can be found on the school website.
School Nut Aware Policy
Within our school community there are several students who have a potentially life-threatening allergy (anaphylaxis) to foods, predominantly to peanuts and tree nuts (e.g. almond, cashew, hazelnut, pistachio).
We feel the best way to reduce the risk of accidental exposure to these students is to respectfully ask for the co-operation of the parents/guardians within the Mills Haven Elementary school community to avoid sending peanut butter or products with peanuts or nuts listed in the ingredients.
Please read our schools’ anaphylaxis plan which will help us provide an “allergy-safe” environment for children at risk of anaphylaxis. I ask you to read the plan carefully and contact the office should you have any questions or concerns.
Your cooperation and understanding in this matter is appreciated.
The Seven Teachings and Red River Cart Teachings
Last year, our school learned about the Seven Teachings. This year, we will continue to learn and play using these teachings as our guide. We are happy to also be learning from the Métis Red River Cart Teachings as well. The Red River Cart teachings use the wheel of a Red River Cart to show us how different character values are linked together.
